Stages of change
Mangers usually think that the employees are aware of the change that is going to take place and get themselves ready for the change, and that is the great mistake done by them, this happens only in rare cases, as any change may cause fear and it may make you to feel that you had lost something you are familiar with, and be prepared to hand over the change in a significant way.
It must be recognized that people inclined to face the steps taken to deal with changes, if there is an understanding that there is an normal progressions then it helps the leaders to avoid the under management of changes or to over-reaction to opposition.
You could become aware of lots of similarities in the process when you are going through the phase and there will be a loss on your loveable one.
In the first stage usually people will deny the happening of it or that it is likely to be continued or it will be last for a longer period, and the general comebacks of this stage are, they will say that, they heard that before and nothing happened like that, and that will be passed, further they will say that they are ready to bet that it will not happen and with in six months the whole thing will be back to normal, and some others will say that they are not ready to believe it unless they see its happening.
And as such people in this denial stage are trying to keep away from dealings as they are frightened and uncertain about the future changes; they are expecting that there will not be any need to adopt, and as such it is very difficult to make the people to plan for the expectations when they are not accepting that something is going to be difficult in the future.
When the people come across something which they denied had happened, they will come out with anger or they will oppose it to a larger extent and this is the second stage, and this stage is very dangerous one in respect of the implementation of the change, so an leader is needed to handle the anger of this stage and to take the people to the next stage, moreover if the leader is not an efficient one then this stage will continue for a longer period.
The third stage is the exploration and acceptance stage and in this stage the people slowly begin to accept the change with little angry and they will start to act open-mindedly to plan for the change and take part in the procedure.
They will commit in the fourth stage and start working to make it success, they also realize the reality of the change. To conclude lots of time is needed to stabilize and bring to work the change.
